A different day dancing..

The two lessons before we had our final performance we had the dress rehearsal for the dancing.
We had to come wearing our checked tops with jeans and a cowboy hat, if we didn't have the hat then we would wear the bandana around our neck, however some of us got the advantage of wearing both to make them look even more like a cowboy/girl. once wearing the outfits everyone seemed to look and perform the dance better as we were all in the mood for the dance.
in these lessons we had the sequence in place and was just going over it as many times as possible just going through it all to make sure it was on point.
whilst we was doing this we was getting recorded so that when it comes to updating our blog we would of had something to look back to to evaluate.

First day of Line Dancing

As i missed my first lesson of line dancing i had to catch up with it all in our second lesson of dancing.
The other students showed me the routine and then whenever i felt ready i would of went in with them and attempted the routine. The routine we came up with so far had a mixture of Tush Push and Grapevine, to do the dances we mainly had to use our feet along with a few claps with the foot steps. Tush Tush dancing involves us just tapping the bottom of our foot and spinning around and continuing the sequence. The Grape Vine is when we move to one side and cross our feet over and then tap it and then go back to the other side and do the same.
As this was my first lesson getting used to the routine, I found it difficult but I then got the hang of it, once we go over the routine more and get more comfortable with doing it, it would come out to be as perfect as how the Bollywood dance turned out to be with all the practice:D

Tuesday 8 November 2011

On our third session of dancing, in our groups we did more research than dancing, we searched you-tube for different dance moves. Firstly we had to make sure we got the basic part to our routine correct which was the footstep. everyone picked up on this perfectly it was just making sure we was all in time and we put a lot of enthusiasm into it.

Researching the different dance moves we had to put it all together into a dance and be ready to show the class, this was a good exercise because it was like a little competiton between all of the groups to see who came up with the best moves,  my group came up with more bhangra moves than bollywood which fitted in fine still! :D
On our recent lesson, our dance seems to be coming together move and looks more professional.
In this lesson we were in MS2.
The boys and girls both do a separate dance which looks as if there is a dance of between boys and girls, this is a traditional part as asian parties.
Myself, Imma, Adriana and Malique have a section ourself where we come in to the front together and do the same dance move. to get the moves together a lot of input has to go into it and everyone puts there own ideas in together.
I think this was the best lesson because our dance is slowly coming together and looking better and most people know what they're doing, when to come on and off and where to be.
The song we our dancing to fits in as it is a fun and fast song.

Friday 21 October 2011

For our second lesson that me and Imma missed of the dancing we went over the same moves that we learnt last time.
we then practiced different dance moves as a group that we could put into the choreograph that we made together, when doing this we have fun and jokes as well as coming up with the hard work for different dance moves.

Introductory Post

This is our Performing Arts unit, this unit involved us doing a Bollywood dance and Line dancing.
We got given our own scrapbooks so we could go and find out information to do with Bollywood Information involving its social and historical contexts of the development of dance and dance styles, how it originated, how it had changed over the years due to the social factor. We have three teachers for this unit, in every lesson we are doing different pieces of work to build up on making our scrapbook.
With Ms Hainstock we had to choreograph different moves and put in our own input. weve slowly started to make a dance to Jai Ho, it is a mixture of Indian and English music combined.
a task we got given was to get into groups of three and come up with our own dance move that lasts for 8 beats.
Me, Rajan and Rashna were successful in doing this as we managed to come up with two dance moves.
